RADA College is one of the privately owned institutions in Ethiopia. RADA College was established in 2014 G.C, in Addis Ababa, the capital city of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia whose free economic policy made education of viable and promising private investment sectors. Accordingly, RADA College has defined its premium role in the education sector to contribute to the holistic development of the nation, through provision of quality and affordable higher education through the country.
RADA College started its operation by offering six distance education programs at undergraduate level in 2015 G.C. These programs included Accounting, Management, Marketing Management, Economics, Sociology & Social Anthropology and Rural Development & Agricultural Extension. Since then the College expanded its accessibility by opening additional eleven Distance Education Branch Coordination Centers in: DebreBerhan, Gondar, Dessie, Nejo, Nekemte, Bahir Dar, DebreMarkos, Assosa, Jimma, Hawassa, and WolaitaSodo in order to provide the accesses to the unreached.
RADA College’s top leadership team realized that the availability of required qualified manpower is one of the main prerequisites to achieve sustainable development for the nation. Accordingly the college conducted detailed assessments about the need for regular programs in addition distance programs at undergraduate level. Then, the College started offering regular undergraduate programs in the following area of studies, namely: Management and Accounting & Finance at Gondar, Kombolcha, DebreBerhan and Injibara Campuses. In addition to the mentioned programs, at Kombolcha Campus it is offering Information Technology and Nursing programs and at DebreBerhan Campus it is offering Information Technology at undergraduate level.
Furthermore, RADA College expanded its coverage to Nedjo where it established a campus which is accredited to offer Management program at undergraduate level. Moreover, RADA College is accredited for three postgraduate programs of which MBA program is offered at Dessie, Kombolcha and DebreBerhan Campuses and also Accounting & Finance and Development Economics are being offered at postgraduate level at Kombolcha and DebreBerhan Campuses.
As the latest development in the span of its postgraduate programs, RADA College is currently finalizing its preparation to offer the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Master of Project Management (MPM) programs in the Online learning mode of delivery.
Furthermore, the College offers TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) programs in Accounting & Budget Service, Database Administration, Marketing management, Purchasing, Operations Coordination, Secretarial Science and Office Management, and Human Resource Management at Campuses located in WolaitaSodo, Tongo, Nejo, Debesso and Ayra.
RADA College is not limited to higher education. It has also launched RADA Academy that provides Kindergarten (KG), Primary and Secondary distance education from 5th -12th grades, accredited in all of Amhara and Oromia Region. Apart from this there is Drivers Training School in Denbi Dolo and Nekemete.
RADA College started with few numbers of students, with relatively fewer staff and facilities. Nevertheless, the College grew rapidly as the demand escalated over the last few years. The student population as well as the academic staff significantly increased with incorporation and expansion of new programs. RADA College currently has an average of 10,000 active students enrolled in a variety of undergraduate, postgraduate and TVET programs and so far it has over 20,000 graduates Alumni and about 600 permanent and temporary employees under RADA College.
The College is strengthening its infrastructure capacity by building its own modern buildings at different regions in and outside Addis Ababa for its operations These buildings are suitable for its teaching and learning engagement. For example among these buildings G+6 buildings located in Debre Berhan, Dessie, Kombolcha; G+4 building located in Injebara and Gondar and G+8 building located in Addis Ababa, which is currently under construction but will be finalized soon in the mid of 2023. The building is designed for head quarter offices facilities as well as for modern education center. The College’s eight years journey indicates that it has advanced its commitment to achieving sustainable social, economic and technological development in Ethiopia. Ever since its establishment, the College has produced well-educated graduates in a variety of disciplines. It endeavors to bring forth innovative research relevant to the Ethiopian environment wishing to have a mechanism to channel suggestions to help make RADA College an institution of Excellence.The College equips its students to become more capable in thought, judgment, communication, and action; to enhance their imaginations and creative talents; to gain a deeper understanding of the teachings provided.
RADAC has made collaborative effort and formed both vertical and horizontal linkages in a bid to attain its goals. The following are some of the linkages the College has formed: It is a member of Ethiopian Private Higher Education and Technical and Vocational Education Training Institutions’ Association, Ethiopian Economics Association, Ethiopian Knowledge and Technology Transfer Society, AAU Library Consortiumand Ethiopian Press Agency. In addition, it works closely with African Development Wisdom Academy (ADWA), Ethiopia Post Office, Ethio – Telecom, Ethiopian Civil Service University, and CBE as well as with major private commercial banks.
